No unverified housing, physical-description, warrant, or bond fields should be assumed from the public interface. The first office handles local checks, Sheriff records, mail or walk-in inquiries, and FOIA work. The second creates and maintains the jail booking and custody record. Close addresses do not make their functions identical.
After intake, reportable fingerprints and arrest facts move toward Michigan State Police CJIC. The district court adds arraignment, complaint, bond, and preliminary events. If prosecutors alter or decline an allegation, the court trail will differ from the original booking. A felony that is bound over moves to the 17th Circuit file for later pleadings, disposition, and sentence.

Kent County Jail and OTIS
Jail Viewer and the Michigan Department of Corrections Offender Tracking Information System answer different custody questions. Jail Viewer concerns current Kent County Correctional Facility bookings. OTIS concerns MDOC prisoners and qualifying probationers or parolees, including certain people discharged from MDOC supervision within the past three years.
OTIS omits county jail custody, city lockups, jail-only sentences, unsentenced people, and people beyond its discharge window. A missing OTIS result does not disprove a Kent County arrest or county jail stay. The MDOC official FAQ explains that OTIS is not a complete background check.
The correct choice depends on custody level: county jail facts belong with Kent County, while state correctional custody belongs with MDOC.

A booking charge records what the arresting agency alleged at intake. It is not necessarily the charge a prosecutor files.
