Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of Kent County Criminal History. Opening a page, reading its content, or submitting a query means that you accept them. Do not continue to use the site if you disagree with any condition.

NO FCRA USE. Kent County Criminal History is privately operated and has no government affiliation. It is not a private investigation firm or a consumer reporting agency. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offer a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Its purpose is to route readers to official Kent County and Michigan criminal-record resources.

1. What This Website Is

This is an independent, private reference site. It does not keep official criminal records, conduct official checks, retrieve a government file, or submit paperwork for a user.

The content identifies custodians such as Kent County Sheriff Records, the district and circuit courts, Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center, and the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also connect users to tools operated by outside companies.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the site is conditioned on the following restrictions. You must not:

  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or account

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No information obtained here or through a linked tool may be used to stalk, threaten, harass, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. Michigan places specific limits on misuse of Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry data under MCL 28.728c. Registry access supports community safety, not vigilantism, prohibited screening, or retaliation, and misuse may lead to criminal penalties.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Kent County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create a credit report, background check, or consumer report. Its advertising partners do not supply this site's tools for FCRA-regulated decisions. You may not use content or linked-tool results to:

  • Set insurance eligibility, terms, or premiums
  • Evaluate a person for credit or lending
  • Make an employment decision
  • Review a housing or rental application
  • Carry out any other use regulated by the FCRA

A legally authorized screening need should be handled through the proper Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center process or a provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Kent County charge, conviction, warrant, or Michigan set-aside rule affects an individual matter. A licensed Michigan lawyer can provide advice about a specific situation.

6. No Warranties

All pages and functions are provided "as is." No warranty is made that:

  • An outside search provider will return complete or correct results
  • Every page will remain free from defects or security issues

Text, graphics, logos, and code are owned by Kent County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, altered, distributed, or used to create another work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kent County Criminal History is not liable for damages arising from use of the site, its content, or a linked service, including reliance on information found through them.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless against claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your site use or breach of these terms, including related costs and reasonable legal fees.

11. Governing Law

Michigan law governs these terms. Any proceeding tied to use of this site must be brought in a court located in Michigan.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revised version takes effect when it is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, with or without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected language will be limited only as far as needed to make it enforceable.
